SCHOLASTIC EXCELLENCE

Annual: $2500

The deadline for applying is MAY 1 of any year.


CRITERIA FOR APPLICATION

1. Must be a junior or regular member in good standing who has demonstrated a commitment to the goals and mission of The Daughters of Erin through their active service to the organization for at least one year prior to applying for the scholarship;
2. Have a 3.5 GPA or above;
3. Must be able to demonstrate service to their school and their community;
4. Must be a full time student pursuing either a two or four year college degree.


SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must submit the following:

1. A Copy of your most recent high school or college transcript, sent to the Scholarship Committee directly from your high school or college;
2. Any combination of three letters of recommendation from a teacher who has had personal instructional experience with you, a past or current employer or a coach;
3. A typed cover letter to the Scholarship committee;
4. A typed 500-word essay addressing the point of why you deserve the scholarship.

SCHOLARSHIP CONDITIONS

Funds will be released in two equal installments directly to the college or university. The recipient is responsible for providing this information to the committee in a timely manner and in accordance with the college/university registration timelines.

The scholarship recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA during the first semester/quarter to receive the second installment. The scholarship chair must receive a copy of the student’s transcript for the first quarter prior to the release of the balance.

Recipients of this college scholarship are expected to report their experiences to the general membership at least once per term.
